RightCrowd is looking for an experienced Support Software Engineer to join our team in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.

As a Support Software Engineer, working within our Delivery team to support and develop solutions for our enterprise clients, you will be technically diverse across systems, software development, networks, and databases. You are expected to find, analyze, and resolve technical issues across a broad range of environments and coded solutions. This role is ideal for someone who is a problem solver and likes to take ownership of challenging issues from the outset.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this position, you will need to have the ability to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide proven development expertise to support solutions for RightCrowd clients
  • Develop system solutions, estimates and specifications
  • Provide timely and effective advice on progress with the ability to meet agreed expectations and deadlines
  • Ensure developed solutions are within agreed and signed-off technical specifications
  • Ensure that coding is within standards that follow industry best practice and internal practices
  • Communicate proactively with the team when issues are encountered
  • Where possible, ensure code is unit tested with zero defects before being passed to QA
  • Ensure there are minimal outstanding open defects and assigned issues are closed on-time and resolved properly to prevent any rework tasks
  • Proactively contribute to building reusable assets or code that will lessen development time and improve productivity
  • Ensure regular updates are provided to customers, using any of the agreed support channels, in any open ticket either low or critical
  • Ensure proper recording, documentation and closure of issues
  • Develop code that is stable and mature by requiring minimal change in libraries
  • Collaborate with other developers to brainstorm and explore new ideas
  • Participate in design coding and peer reviews to improve the quality of code
  • Be present, on-time, prepared and engaged in discussions in any meetings either in person or via Teams video or call
